The Toba Barrio
This barrio in Rosario is home to the poorest of the poor. The neighboring villages come and dump their garbage at this barrio. No mail is delivered there, nor will an ambulance come for emergencies. They are truly the downcast of society. The children will not cross the street because they are afraid to. There is another barrio that is right next to the Toba barrio, but because they have lighter skin they get assistance from the government. It is so sad!!! Pastor Carter visited the barrio and believes, as all of our team has, that the Toba barrio is the reason that God has sent Times Square Church to Rosario.
The Choir Has Arrived!
The choir arrived early this evening. Their trip was a little longer than the other teams because they had a two-hour delay leaving Kennedy Airport. However, everyone was in good spirits and enjoyed dinner with the rest
of the outreach teams and pastoral staff. There are now 225 people from Times Square Church here. According to our Special Projects Director, who is responsible for organizing all the international
evangelistic rallies and outreaches, this is the largest group we have had for a
evangelistic rally.
Pastors Conference Concludes
The pastor’s conference wrapped up yesterday ending two days of powerful preaching. Pastor Carter and Teresa Conlon brought God’s heart to the hundreds of pastors and church workers who attended.
Pastor Carter spoke about ministering to the poor. He said the highest calling is to be found among the poor. He then issued the challenge to “come and walk with Jesus.” The glory of God fell as those ministered to responded to the altar call and began to cry out to God for new hearts and the compassion of Christ.
Teresa Conlon spoke at two sessions of the pastor’s conference. She really had a word for the body. She spoke about Joseph, and how God allowed him to enter a pit for a season where the dreams and promises that God had given him had to die in order to bear fruit. It was a lonely place and no one else was with him. Someone had to reach out to take him out of the pit. After the pit he was sold into slavery. But after his deliverance, God blessed him. As she ended her message, she issued a challenge to all present by asking if they were willing to be part of the Joseph company.
Testimonies
Children Getting Saved
The White team and Yellow team went to a church at a restaurant called “Tablada.” They went out to do street evangelism and to pray. Children were waiting for them at a local church. The teams played with them and just “loved” on them. The children were excited with the worship. A team member shared and God moved powerfully. It was evident that many of the children were touched, and some got saved!
Workers Getting Encouraged
Nearly all the teams have translators to help them communicate during outreaches. The White team is the children’s ministry team, and they are preparing for a children’s
rally. During a rehearsal for their outreach, a leader shared about the life of Joseph. He told the team how our shaking and changes might seem difficult, but God was going to turn this around
for his good. One of the local directors of the outreaches here in Rosario was there. She heard what was shared. Later, at the end of practice she said that God had spoken to her and touched her. She was crying, broken, saying that her prayers had been answered and she was so thankful for what God is doing.
Let the Children Come
Another team was speaking to a local woman and noticed several children watching. They invited the children to come to hear what was being said.
It started with four children and quickly turned to ten children and kept growing. They were able to share the gospel with the woman and the crowd of children and they all received Christ.
Elderly Couple Accept Christ
A team going door to door in South Saladillo encountered an elderly couple. The 79-year old lady invited two team members into her home after hearing a knock on her door. They invited her to the
evangelistic rally and asked if she was a Christian. She said yes at first. The woman took them to her husband who was about 89. He could hardly hear, and had to cup his hand around his ear to listen to the team. The wife said that he wanted to accept Christ, so they led him in the sinner’s prayer. He fervently repeated the words. The wife then repeated the sinner’s prayer after hearing her husband receive the Lord. Despite their age, both say they will try to come to the
evangelistic rally.
The Fields Are Ripe For the Harvest
A local pastor took one team to a field to join them in prayer as they reclaimed the land from drug addiction. During the prayer, a man standing nearby came over. He smelled of alcohol, but God had a plan. The man got saved and attended a church service in the barrio later that night.
Another woman on the field complained about hearing “knocking” sounds in her head for a year. The team prayed for her and the sounds disappeared.
Some 200 children who had never been in church before were drawn to a children’s gathering. They all were saved. There was such an out pouring
of the Holy Spirit on this field that the young and old were saved, delivered and healed. The pastor’s wife in this barrio was also delivered and realized the calling on her life for leading worship. Both the pastor and his wife were greatly encouraged.
