I Have Been Waiting For You
The teams are already about their father’s business. Testimonies are not trickling it, they are pouring in. A local pastor had a burden for a woman who used to serve the Lord, so he took a team to visit her in the barrio. The teams spoke with her, and she seemed embarrassed and uncomfortable. They told her how much God loved her and that the teams had come to share the gospel with the people of Rosario. Finally the woman began to share what was on her heart. She told the team that the Lord had been speaking to her, and told her that someone” would be coming; that he was sending someone. She wept. She says she knew the Lord had sent the team to her. They prayed with her, and she re-dedicated herself to the Lord.
You and Your Household Shall Be Saved
The lives of an entire family were changed as teams were out sharing in the barrios. Two men were in the street as the team handed out flyers about the upcoming
evangelistic rally. One of the team members spoke with both men, but was drawn to one man because of his intense eyes, and because he seemed to be particularly interested. The Lord prompted her to share her testimony about how she used drugs for 18 years, but the Lord had delivered her. The man whispered, “that’s me.” She shared with him how it was the Lord not a program that delivered her from her addictions. The man wept, and she was able to lead him to the Lord.
This same team member continued to walk in the barrios and came upon a woman washing clothes. She started sharing with the woman about Jesus. The woman seemed open to what the team member was saying. They began to pray and the power of the Lord came down. The woman’s nine year old daughter came out and all three were praying. Later a four-year old came out, and the team member stared because of the little girl’s eyes. They were the same eyes as the man she has prayed with only moments before. This was the man’s family. In one day, God has used the team to minister to the husband, his wife, and children.
Deaf and Dumb Spirit
A local pastor took a team through one of the barrios. He had a particular burden for a woman and her family. He knew the woman’s teenage son was afflicted. The teenager had gotten involved with alcohol. They say the boy had not talked for three months. The team went to the home. They found the boy curled up in a ball on the couch. His hand was also curled up and he had a blank stare on his face. The team began to pray, and pray, and pray. Nothing. They stopped. The Lord spoke to the team leader that it was a deaf and dumb spirit. Armed with this new knowledge, the team began to pray again. One of the Spanish-speaking members of the team began to pray and encourage the boy to repeat after her and to cry out to God. The boy began to speak and cry out to the Lord. The teenager’s countenance changed and his hand straightened out. When the woman’s teenaged daughter came home, she did not recognize her own brother. The team was able to witness to her, and lead her to the Lord. Please continue to pray for the son for his complete recovery.
Our Children Are Being Changed Too
This is Ashley Smith’s first missions trip. She is twelve years old, and this is how her first day went, in her own words. “Today I was very nervous, and scared when we went to the barrios. But when I spoke, the Holy Spirit took the fear away. Afterwards, the children were doing relay races, and a lot of kids came to me and asked me my name. When we had to leave, I didn’t want to leave. Everyone was surprised because at first I didn’t even want to get involved. Today turned out to be a great day!”
A staff team member reports:
The outreach team got here safe and sound yesterday. There were a few issues with transportation from Buenos Aires but God covered us. The team arrived late, but happy. Elder Bill and Ivan were off early Friday morning to pick up Pastor Carter and Teresa Conlon and the elders traveling with him.
The teams all went out to their first outreaches today. Food and transport went really smoothly. It's only 1PM and we have two more awesome praise reports from today:
We want to see what you're doing
We've been praying for the hotel staff - they're all so sweet…and two of the waitresses in the restaurant where we eat breakfast asked if they can go out with the teams to the barrios to see what we're doing.
Expanded Television Coverage
Channel Luz, the Christian television station just decided to add the Pastors’ Conference and Women’s Conference to their broadcast for free and they're going to double the amount of advertising, also for free! Pray that they add the youth rally too…
Amazing day of outreaches
The outreach teams have been blown away. They returned today with one story after another of amazing encounters in the barrios with street kids.
Our prison team went with a local pastor who's been doing prison ministry for 20 years. In one police station where he ministers, 80% of the prisoners are saved. The team went to the police station when they were having a water baptism for prisoners who had received Christ. The pastor gave a word that the team found very powerful and convicting. Our team and the whole prison were on their face weeping and wailing in repentance.
Two team members knocked on the door of a woman in a barrio. The woman started weeping as soon as they began to speak. It turns out that she was a backslider, and in the last few weeks God had begun to stir her heart. God told her yesterday that some people were going to come to her house and speak to her, and they did! She came back to the Lord today.
These are just a few, and today is only day one.
God is among us
God is so good. I feel his peace and his strength with us and all over the teams. Our times of prayer in staff devotions have been really awesome. I know God is going to blow our minds with what he's going to do here. Thanks for your prayers.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
Staff Team Outreach
Tomorrow, Saturday, a staff team will be going to a nursing home and then to conduct a youth service at the Salvation Army church of a pastor here whom we love -- a precious humble man. Some of us will be preaching! Please pray for us.
Transit Strike
Please continue to pray for the transit strike. They're still threatening to strike all public transportation which would hinder people getting to
the evangelistic rally.
Larger Office
Now that more people are beginning to arrive, our office here at the hotel is getting tight on space, we could really use a larger room but apparently there are no more conference rooms available. Please pray that they offer us a larger room!
