| You Are Not Too Young to Receive the Gospel | 13-Jul-2007 | Team: Buja B We did something a little different today. Our team split in half at a local church. One half went out to do street outreach while the other stayed at the church to do children’s ministry. We played Bible related games, sang worship songs, and just showed the love of Jesus to the kids. At the end of the day, we gave them time to share whatever they wanted to say. Two children said that when they came in the morning they had been sick, but while they were there, God had healed them! We hadn’t even prayed for healing. One child, about ten years old, thanked us for bringing them the gospel. It was particularly special because often on outreaches and witnessing in the streets, parents tend to push the children aside, assuming that they are too young to receive the gospel. Today God proved yet again, that He does not despise youth. At the end, the kids led us in a worship song that involved a lot of jumping, preparing us for the worship and dance that went on at the evangelistic rally later. Through our ministry to the kids, God prepared us for an awesome time of worship. |
| Two orphanages | 13-Jul-2007 | Team: Medical - Ngozi Today we went to two orphanages. In the morning we went to one orphanage with little children from 1 week old to 5 years old. Some of team had their hands full, playing with the older children. We had helped with feeding the infants and younger children. One of our interpreters was a young single man without experience with children, was so amazed that he held the children in his arms until they fell asleep after feeding them. We were also able to treat many of the children that were sick as well.
The second orphanage had children from 1 month to 16 years old. There were quite a few teenagers there who were orphans from the war in Burundi years ago. The children sang and danced for us when we first arrived. A few joined us as we drove to the evangelistic rally later that evening.
