Today was field trip day with the students at the Yat Tung Catholic school. The primary students visited citigate shopping mall, where they had experiences in a supermarket and were able to read books in English at the library. It was a fun time for both the students and teachers. The children enjoyed the library so much that they did not want to leave when it was time to go home. The secondary students and teachers boarded a bus for a 45 minute bus ride to a fishing village named Tai O. The people who live in this village make their living from fishing, and then selling the fish and other items in a marketplace. The houses are all built on stilts, as water flows throughout the village, and all the houses have aluminum around the outside. The drive to and from the village was very scenic, as we had to climb over mountains to get there. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, food, laughs (and of course practicing to speak English) between the students and teachers. The teachers enjoyed spending quality time with the students outside the academic setting.
Tonight, we were able to have a rehearsal for our culture/evangelistic outreach event that will be happening in this community tomorrow night. It will be set on an outdoor stage, and we are inviting the whole community to attend. We are praying for God to bring those who need to know him and to see his love to this event, and that their hearts will be open to receiving the love of Jesus. The theme for this night will be “God is” and we are praying that many people will find that God is their answer to their life’s struggles. We are claiming this community for Christ, and we are believing the scripture that we have been given for this trip… “with God, all things are possible.”
