We finished the English camp on Friday. All the kids had so much fun and they love to learn about God. One student said that “this is the best camp ever.” The students want us to return again next year. We rejoice in all the students who accepted Jesus during the camp.
The team has all went our separate ways. Some home, some on vacations, and others to another mission trip. But the people and the community of Tung Chung will always have a special place in our hearts, and we will continue to pray for them. We are so thankful for the last two weeks, and all the testimonies that came from this time we spent in Hong Kong. We thank God for His strength that He gave to us. He is so good! ”With God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Today was the first day of our 2 day English camp. The theme for our camp is “God is”, and we are trusting the Holy Spirit to reveal the many attributes of God to these kids. We had a very fun time with the kids today, beginning with praise and worship and some fun active games. We then had a Bible lesson in two separate groups, one for the primary students and one for the secondary students. We divided the secondary students into small groups after the lesson to talk and pray with them, where one student accepted Jesus! Our afternoon was filled with fun activities such as making T-shirts, tambourines, bracelets, and jello. The children had so much fun that they didnt want to stop. We ended the night with a Hong Kong style BBQ, where you cook your own food on a large fork over the fire.

Today was our last day at the school teaching the students. We are posting some of the pictures from the school over the last week. We all really enjoyed teaching and getting to know the students. God worked in a very special way in the lives of these children through our classes. God is so good! Tomorrow we begin our 2 day English camp. We spent the evening preparing skits, songs, lessons, and praying for the camp.

After classes at the school finished, we visited a local fishing village named Ma Wan Chung fishing village. We were able to visit some of the families that reside in this village. The families in this village are very poor, and most of them are waiting for government housing. Many of the houses in this village are made of wood, and some people live in the old boats. Many of them are elderly, and most of the families we visited were not believers in Jesus. They are afraid to give up their idols and ancestral practices. We prayed with all the families that they would see the love of Jesus and for their hearts to be opened to Him. On one of our house visits, our host introduced us to his 96 year old grandmother who is not a believer. We witnessed to her of the wonderful life with Jesus in order to avoid an everlasting second death. We told her of our experiences in Christ. She said she wanted Jesus in her heart, and she said sinner’s prayer after accepting Christ. Afterwards, we had a fun time of fellowship and home made dinner at the home of one of the women from the church. We were so blessed and encouraged by her life’s story, as she has remained faithful to serving God in spite of the many trials in her life. Tomorrow will be our last day teaching at the school, and then we will prepare for our 2 day English camp.

After a full day of teaching classes at the school in Tung Chung, we went with the youth from the local church to help with their street outreach. The outreach was held in an area of Hong Kong called Mong Kok. It is a very crowded shopping area with many neon signs, lights, and street performers. A very similar place to Times Square in NYC. The youth had set up a mini sound system along the street and brought guitars and tambourines for the musical instruments. We had praise and worship, followed by a skit and testimonies from some of our team members. Many of us helped to hand out tracks in Chinese to people who passed by.

Today we prayed for the Holy Spirit to come and touch the hearts of the people in this community. Tonight was our culture/evangelistic outreach in the local community. The setting was on a circular outdoor stage area, and chairs were set up in the middle. The youth from the local church helped us by sending a worship team with a sound system to lead the worship in both English and Chinese. They also helped us with translation of bible verses and other information that was displayed on a large screen. We are so thankful for their help. The theme we had for this outreach is “God is”, we had culture presentations, a skit, and worship music. Several of the students from the school came out and many came to accept Jesus at the end of the service. We praise God!!!!!

Today was field trip day with the students at the Yat Tung Catholic school. The primary students visited citigate shopping mall, where they had experiences in a supermarket and were able to read books in English at the library. It was a fun time for both the students and teachers. The children enjoyed the library so much that they did not want to leave when it was time to go home. The secondary students and teachers boarded a bus for a 45 minute bus ride to a fishing village named Tai O. The people who live in this village make their living from fishing, and then selling the fish and other items in a marketplace. The houses are all built on stilts, as water flows throughout the village, and all the houses have aluminum around the outside. The drive to and from the village was very scenic, as we had to climb over mountains to get there. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, food, laughs (and of course practicing to speak English) between the students and teachers. The teachers enjoyed spending quality time with the students outside the academic setting.
Tonight, we were able to have a rehearsal for our culture/evangelistic outreach event that will be happening in this community tomorrow night. It will be set on an outdoor stage, and we are inviting the whole community to attend. We are praying for God to bring those who need to know him and to see his love to this event, and that their hearts will be open to receiving the love of Jesus. The theme for this night will be “God is” and we are praying that many people will find that God is their answer to their life’s struggles. We are claiming this community for Christ, and we are believing the scripture that we have been given for this trip… “with God, all things are possible.”
