The Characteristics of a Godly Man
Pastor Carter Speaks on the Last Session of the Conference

Pastor Carter closed the last session of the Pastors Conference with a message about John the Baptist and the characteristics that made him a godly man. He pointed to four characteristics in John the Baptist that ministers of the gospel should make sure they have: 1) a proper estimation of themselves, 2) an open heaven, because the righteous see God in everything, 3) to turn people from themselves to Christ, and 4) to remember that all things work together for good because Christ stands with them in their adversity. He exhorted the Jamaican pastors to get out of the way and let God be God, emphasizing that the American church has become largely irrelevant and they should not look to America for deliverance. There was a beautiful time of quiet worship following the altar call when the presence of God took over and many of those in attendance wept before the Lord.

Testimony Night
Deliverance at Women's Conference

Over 600 women attended the Women's Conference which followed in the
evening of the last day of the Pastors Conference. A TSC women's ensemble ministered in praise and worship, and the presence of the Lord was felt so strongly that the worship lasted over an hour and no one wanted it to end. Teresa Conlon invited the ensemble members to share their testimony and many were touched by the faithfulness of God in delivering these women from much pain and affliction. Sister Teresa called it "Testimony Night" and proceeded to bring out powerful testimonies from the word of God - Jabez' mother, Hannah and Esther - that went right to the heart of the women present. Rather than an altar call, the women prayed for one another and the promise of deliverance was embraced by many.

Praise Him!
Worship Seminar Draws a Full House

Greg Thomas was the speaker for the Worship Seminar also held on the
evening of the last day of the conference at Fellowship Tabernacle, a local church whose pastor is Chairman of the Pastors Committee helping us to organize the conference and crusade. Greg described how the church today has a "posture" of worship that mirrors what the world does in order to attract people, rather than maintain an attitude of worship that humbles itself in the presence of Christ. He emphasized that we are called to be separated from the world. Over 1,500 people attended this meeting and came away blessed.

Love Never Fails
A Man Angry at God Gives Up the Idea of Suicide

Two outreach team members met a man in Trench Town who railed at the Lord. "Tired of praying and nothing happens. What's the use of serving God if he can't give me a job to provide for my family? I rather kill myself than go back to my family with nothing. Don't want to hear about the Bible."

They told him to let it go. That Jesus loves him. Let the anger go. One of the team members hugged him and the man just started to weep. He was in so much pain. He kept saying "Might as well do wickedness. Witchcraft better than God."

They prayed that Jesus would comfort him, give him peace. Afterwards
the man didn't want to let them go. The bus was returning back to the
hotel. They realized he just needed to know that God loved him.

"Nobody Comes Here and Do This"
Outreach Teams Go Door-to-Door in Trench Town

An outreach team member saw a two-year old sitting on her father's lap and he was giving her beer to drink. He asked the father how often the toddler drank beer. "Every time I drink one," he responded, "I give her some." You could tell from the little girl's eyes that the alcohol had affected her. Was he married? "No. I live with the woman and we are expecting another soon."

In the course of the conversation he mentioned he smoked hash too. Why? "It takes me to a higher level where I can meditate." The team member told him that Jesus would take him to an even higher level if he gave him his life. The man dumped the beer on the ground and listened.

Afterwards he said "You are encouraging and edifying us. Nobody comes here and do this. What you are doing here is good. This is what we need." John 4, all over again.
