On one of the first really cold
days of winter, as our Missions
Director walked through the front
doors of the church, a young
woman without a coat and wearing flip flops,
stood there asking if there was a coat available.
Not wanting to be late, he almost dismissed the
moment but realized that this is the very reason
that we are here. To be the hand of God extended
to our neighbors. At that moment, she was
his neighbor.
As we continue in these uncertain times, to draw
back would be a mistake. More than ever we need
to move forward in the compassion of Christ and
be a light to this generation. Christians should
not be asking the question “why the church?”
or “what is the church?” This is the time to
show the world what the church can be.
Feeding a hungry child through ChildCry, building
a shelter for those in need through BrickThink or
touching lives with medical help through OnCall,
are just a few of the ways that our Missions Ministry
is showing this generation what the church of
Jesus Christ can be.
Talk with someone and listen to their struggles,
or perhaps help them figure out how to manage
their finances. God uses the practical to speak
to people. No mission field is too close or too
far to share the love of God!
