Scotland 2009
International Outreach, November 6–16
230 people from this church will travel this month to Greenock, Scotland to participate in evangelistic rallies and outreaches. According to Chris Jewell, part of the steering committee in Scotland, “This region of Scotland suffers from what I might term as a spirit of depression, drug addiction, alcoholism and violence.” Suicide rates are among the highest in the UK.
“God is sending Times Square Church to come alongside the churches and leaders to
encourage them not to give up and to believe God in the face of the overwhelming problems in the society around them,” explains our Senior Pastor, Carter Conlon. “As we prepare to visit Scotland, the Lord has impressed upon our hearts, that we need to be a people of absolute truth. We cannot go to Scotland and say ‘we have the truth that can set you free,’ if we ourselves are not fully walking in that truth. If we are a clear and clean representation of Christ, God will do what only He can do. I have seen the miraculous power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ transform a multitude in Nigeria in 2002. I have seen God transform a community in Jamaica in 2003.”
According to Pastor Carter, “Scotland has a great spiritual history. The people of Scotland have shown a propensity to lay hold of faith in God. They have witnessed great visitations of God. Yet a generation has risen that is not familiar with this history and what God has done. We are believing that God will speak to the people and they will lay hold of this faith once more.” To follow the outreach visit the Scotland 2009 blog here.
