Congratulations! If you are a new Christian, you have just experienced the beginning of your new, eternal life (John 3:16; 10:10). Your sins have been forgiven and you have been given a fresh start (Romans 4:7).
You are probably thinking, “Now what?” Well, now you need to grow in your new relationship with God.
Here are some simple ways to do that:
You can start learning all about what it means to be a Christian at our weekly service called Real Life: The Basics of Faith in Jesus which takes place every Sunday at 1PM in the main sanctuary. This is an opportunity for you to learn the basics of Christianity and ask questions. The service consists of 12 weekly sessions on topics such as: Why the Bible? Who is God? Who is Jesus and What is Sin?
We recommend you choose a Bible that is easy for you to understand and is faithful to the original text of the Bible. Some examples are the New Living Translation (NLT) and The New King James version (NKJV) which are available at the TSC Store in the Main Lobby. You can also download easy-to-use Bible apps such as YouVersion Bible App, which offers most of the Bible translations available.
We recommend that you begin your reading with the Gospel of John or one of the other Gospels to read for yourself what Jesus taught and did during His time on earth. Many people find it helpful to use a Bible reading plan to help them read the Bible on a consistent daily basis. There are many Bible reading plans available on the internet and on Bible apps such as and Bible Gateway.com and YouVersion Bible App.
Prayer is simply talking with God. You do not need to use a formal set of words. The Bible also teaches us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). If you want to know God more deeply, you must communicate with Him regularly. Throughout each day, you can give thanks to God, ask Him to answer your daily needs, and pray on behalf of others.
It’s also important to pray together with others who follow Christ, so we encourage you to come to our weekly prayer service on Tuesdays at 7PM. You will learn to pray with and for others as we pray for the prayer requests that are received from all over the world, and you will be encouraged by how God answers prayer from the reports that are received.
Baptism symbolizes your new life in Christ and proclaims that you are now committed to Jesus. Even Jesus was baptized (Luke 3:1-22), and He calls His followers to also be baptized.
Water baptism at Times Square Church is offered at the Sunday 6PM service every other month (6 times a year) starting in February. Anyone wishing to be baptized at Times Square Church is required to attend the Real Life: Study Groups, a 4-week foundational course for Christians, offered on Fridays at 7PM.
When you gave your life to Christ you became part of God’s family, the Church. As you get connected and involved at Times Square Church you will build friendships and be encouraged and strengthened by other Christians.
You can meet other Christians and get involved in the church by attending our church services on a regular basis, participating in monthly fellowships offered for people like you, joining one of the many ministries at Times Square Church, going to one of the various Bible Studies offered throughout the week or signing up for a short-term missions trip right here in New York City, in another state or around the world.
