A Day to Relax and Reflect
The crusade is over and today was a day for the teams and choir to rest. Some continued their travels on to Livingstone to visit the Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. A large group of the teams and choir went to Chaminuka, a lodge about one hour outside Lusaka, where they could do jeep, horseback and walking safaris. Chaminuka is a beautiful lodge that feels more like someone’s home -- very Out of Africa -- our dream home away from home with striking views of the hills and a lake. Tranquil and peaceful. Wonderful food. Just what we all needed after one to two weeks of outreaches and crusade and very little sleep. The rest of the teams and choir spent the day shopping in the various popular markets in Lusaka. These were the die-hard shoppers and many came away with some beautiful finds. All of us have learned how to bargain here in Lusaka but at the same time we hoped our shopping habits have helped the local economy.
Goodbye Lusaka
Tomorrow two large groups depart for the U.S. The first group has an airport departure call for 4:30AM! The rest of the staff and teams depart on November 4th and 6th. For everyone it is a sad goodbye. Zambia has been like home for most of us and the time has flown. We will miss these sweet, gentle, hospitable people and the splendid, sunny October days with the soft breeze blowing. We have been irrevocably knit together with the people of this lovely nation. Zambia, God willing, we will someday return and witness the fulfillment of the promise God has made to you.
